Acne is a common problem for people especially teenagers. There are many ways to help get rid of acne. Here are the 5 following steps that will help improve the look of your skin without using treatment creams or products:

1) Exfoliate regularly:
Exfoliation can help the skin look more refreshing, absorbs better moisturizers and serums, unblock pores and prevent new spots from occurring. Also, it can remove dry and dead skin cells which prevent spots such as whiteheads, blackhead and acne. It is essential not to exfoliate too much as it can irritate your skin. Use light and natural exfoliator once or twice a week to maintain your healthy skin. Healthline provides tips on how to exfoliate for different skin types
2) Go make-up free:
Makeup products contain harmful chemicals which block your pores further and cause acne. It is essential to stop wearing makeup especially if there is no necessity for it, but if you feel you need to cover any scars or attend a special occasion, you should use mineral-based products that don’t contain oils or cause any inflammation to your skin. Don’t forget to remove all your makeup before going to bed. Robyn McAlpine, a Skin Therapist says:
“A day free of makeup is ideal for skin health, and gives skin the chance to recalibrate. When we wear makeup our skin's inbuilt communication system is hindered. Our cells cannot as easily adjust to humidity levels and what’s happening in the environment around us and this has an impact on how your skin functions.”
3) Don’t shower daily:
According to Harvard Health Publishing, healthy skin contains a layer of oil, good bacteria and other microorganisms. Washing can remove these and harm your skin especially if the water is hot. In addition, Over-washing can irritate the skin and cause further inflammation that may intensify acne. Regular showers can cause skin problems or other health problems. Oils, fragrances, and other ingredients in shampoos, conditioners, and soaps may also cause problems such as allergic reactions.
4) Enjoy the sun:
Sun exposure is important for humans and helps reinforce our bones, since this is how we consume vitamin D. According to Cranley Clinic, The sun's UV light has gentle antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. Some individuals find that their acne gets worse when exposed to the sun, particularly if they use thick sun creams that cover the pores and lead to acne breakouts. Also, some light waves may have a beneficial impact on the skin and help dramatically minimise the symptoms of acne. However, it is necessary to wear UVA and UVB sun protection at all times.
5) Eat these foods:
According to Healthline, dieting is one of the most important factors that can affect your skin. Some foods elevate the blood sugar more rapidly than others. When your blood sugar rises quickly, it causes the body to release a hormone called insulin. Excess insulin in your blood will cause more oil to be released by your oil glands, raising your acne risk. Among a variety of foods that can help reduce and prevent inflammation are almonds, blueberries, avocados and kidney beans. This can make your skin less likely to develop inflamed spots that can make your life unpleasant.
